Thanks to our co-chairs, Amy Moore and James Thompson, we were fortunate to have an alumnus as our guest speaker. John Fitzpatrick graduated from Saint Anthony Junior-Senior High School in 2000 and went on to study marine biology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Today he teaches biology and oceanography at University of Hawaii Maui College. His speech at the ceremony focused on the value in knowledge, some of the difficulties he experienced while in school, and the importance of pursuing one's passion.

Congratulations to the new members!

Honoring Nanea

Myckel Nanea Tehani Genovia was a joyful, strong-willed, and loving ten-year-old girl who had her whole life ahead of her. Nanea loved to play sports and take care of her pets. Her friends and family meant everything to her. Although there were many challenges in her life, she took every day with the enthusiasm that only a ten-year old could have. Sadly she was stricken with Leukemia and passed away on September 21, 2013.

In honor of Nanea, the Saint Anthony National Honor Society made the decision to raise money that would be given to the Ronald McDonald House. At our homecoming game on January 17, 2014, a jar and with posters were set up by the entrance of the gym. At their leisure, many of the attendees made anonymous donations. During half-time co-chairs Danae Ah Nee and Ali Hanna spoke of Nanea and what the National Honor Society was doing in her honor. At the end of the evening a total of $233 was raised for the Ronald McDonald House. Thank you to everyone for spreading the word and for making this possible!
